The Madeira Employment Institute received 194 unemployed who started one of the 14 employment programs available.
The Regional Secretary for Inclusion and Social Affairs, Rita Andrade, was present at the meeting and recalled that since the beginning of the year, 1,300 new programs have been approved for people who are unemployed.
In some cases, they have a very positive employability rate above 40% and in some cases close to 50%.
“Areas such as labor market are in need of catering, waiter service, barman, etc but there is also a lot of demand for more qualified people like graduates, lawyers, physiotherapists, the demand for programs is very heterogeneous,” he said, adding that the 62% who are still unemployed should take a strong initiative on training.
