The Pharmacovigilance System will advance in Madeira in the first half of this year. The idea is to monitor and evaluate reports of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The provision of this service is being treated between the Regional Health Service and Infarmed and involves the creation of a Pharmacovigilance Unit, the eighth in the country.
Each year, the National Pharmacovigilance System (SNF) receives over 6,000 reports of adverse drug reactions at national level, including information on the safety of drugs used during pregnancy and lactation. Now, this system also arrives in Madeira, assured Pedro Ramos this afternoon.
According to the Regional Secretary for Health, the Pharmacovigilance Unit will allow the identification of risks associated with the use of medicines, evaluate and implement measures to minimize risks, and will be the responsibility of IASAÙDE.
