The Porto Santo wins the lights and the color of the holiday season this Sunday, starting at 7:00 pm, with the official opening of the lighting, in the Largo of the Building of Public Services, a ceremony that will count on the participation of the Children and Youth Choir of the Parish Council of Porto Santo.
The program coordinated by the Office of Culture was announced today and contains several initiatives that will run until the Kings.
The Christmas lighting results from the articulation between the Porto Santo Municipal Council and the Regional Government, namely the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture, highlighting the placement of two Christmas trees with 15 meters high, next to the building of the Municipality, where is the Natal Village and next to the pier.
The schools of the municipality will present the Christmas books, in Largo do Pelourinho, on the 12th, at 4:30 p.m. (Externato Nossa Senhora da Conceição) and the next day at 3:30 p.m. (EB1 / PE and Porto Santo Crèche).
On the 16th, at 3:30 p.m., the ACES Amador Theater Group will present a theater “and my Christmas present”, which marks the Arrival of Santa Claus to Porto Santo, near the Public Services Building Square.
The traditional Christmas show will be held on the 20th, at 9:00 pm, in the Auditorium of the Cultural and Congress Center. All interested parties should purchase their ticket for free at the CMPS Office of Culture, and be limited to the capacity of that room.
On the 21st and 22nd, the traditional Christmas Market 2018 takes place in the center of the city, starting at 8:30 p.m., with performances by the Musical Band of the House of the People of N.ªªªªª da Piedade, of the Ensemble of Accordions of the Conservatory of the Schools of the Arts of Madeira and with Décio Sousa.
On the 22nd, at 7:00 p.m., the VI will return to the city, named Race Eduardo Faustino, with the support of the BRGYM and the animation of the night will feature the Child and Youth Choir of the Parish Council of Porto Santo at 9:00 p.m. and with the Group of Folklore, at 10:00 p.m. The day ends with the performance of Move & Dance BR Gym at 10:30 p.m., with Carina Teixeira at 11:00 p.m. and with Despic Group at Porto Santo midnight.
The Municipality prepared a New Year’s Eve show, with Sónia Soares, which will take place at 11.30 pm, in Largo das Palmeiras. The firework that marks the entrance in 2019 takes place in two distinct points, in Portela and Cais Velho in the center of the city.
The Christmas festivities will end in January, with Cantar dos Reis, on January 5, 2019, at 10:00 p.m. and with the commemoration of Santo Amaro Day, on the 15th, starting at 2:00 p.m., in the public services building. Both events have the traditional participation of several local groups.
The executive council appeals to the people of Porto Santo to make purchases in the local commerce as well as to participate in the festive program.
