According to Forbes magazine, these are the 19 best places to meet in 2019, either because they are in an incredible phase, because they have a vibrant art scene, or because they meet at that rough diamond spot without too many visitors. Forbes has talked to some of the world’s top travel experts to find out where they would like to go in the coming months. In the end, there was this shortlist. And Portugal is there, represented by its two archipelagos: the Azores and Madeira.
The Azores, explains the article, because Portugal may even be on the radar of the whole world, but it is in this set of beautiful islands in the middle of the Atlantic that is the true treasure. With new direct flights from the US, they are now very easy to reach for Americans, according to the article.
The islands are described as the ideal place to spend holidays, “for the adventure outdoors, along with its historical and cultural charm”.
The author adds: “These islands have something for everyone: vineyards, volcanic crater lakes, whale watching, hot springs, UNESCO protected landscapes, natural pools, hot springs, diving, surfing, waterfalls.” In the background, the Azores are a “huge playground of natural beauties”.
In relation to the Madeira archipelago, it is described as “a destination of great natural wealth and still quite unexplored”.

The list also includes Krabi in Thailand.
