Rosa Duran, a trainer in the area of Astronomy and innovation in science teaching, was on Radio JM about the IDiverSe program.
IDiverSE (Islands Diversity for Science Education) is an educational project co-financed by the European Union’s Erasmus + Agency, which brings together 9 partners from 4 different countries (Portugal, including Madeira and the Azores, Spain, England and Greece). Rosa Duran, responsible for the project, came to Madeira during the XII Eco-Schools Meeting and was on Radio JM to make the IDiverSE program known.
Rosa Duran, said that her project was born in Madeira, in conversation with some professors, when realizing that the islands, in general, have very similar characteristics, but also very different.
In trying to understand these differences, IDiverSE was created “a project that aims to get students to work collaboratively with students from other islands, and to understand the similarities and differences between each of the islands where they live,” he said. .
Rosa Duran also said that this project is done within a concept called ‘Open Schools for Open Societies’, where the school is intended as a reception center for information, receiving professionals in its community.
Each school is taken as an island, says Rosa Duran, who interacts in an exchange of knowledge with other small islands, where students are the main players.
