The vice president of the Regional Government of Madeira, Pedro Calado, revealed today that the executive will accelerate the budgets for the construction of the new hospital, which is why he included in the Budget of Reform a budget of 5.5 million euros.
Pedro Calado was speaking at the Permanent Specialized Commission on Economy, Finance and Tourism of the Legislative Assembly on the “Proposal to Amend the Plan and Program of Investment and Development Expenses of the Autonomous Region of Madeira for 2018 – PIDDAR 2018”, to be debated on Thursday.
The governor justified the presentation of the Budget for 2018 with, among other things, the “need to introduce the multi-annual charges that have to do with the construction of the new central hospital of Madeira.”
“We will increase the value of the budgets in a further 5.5 million euros, which have been very positive,” he added.
“We want to pay as soon as possible to have the land cleared for construction,” he said. “We will accelerate the budget process.”
The new hospital project is estimated at 340 million euros, with the region financing 56% (expropriations, construction and equipment) and 44% state (construction and equipment) of the new health unit.
The Rectifying Budget for 2018 is EUR 1,935 million, plus EUR 49,9 million from the original proposal and as a result of “sound financial implementation”.
