61 million euros are being invested in projects that will increase water reserves at high altitude and reduce losses in public irrigation and supply networks.
This guarantee left this morning in the auditorium of Campo da Barca by the regional director of Spatial Planning and Environment. Paula Menezes spoke at the opening of the seminar on adaptation to climate change and the efficient use of water in Macaronesia. The seminar is part of the ADAPTaRES project. The president recalled that the increase in temperature and the fall in precipitation, projected until the end of the century, could lead to a 50 percent reduction in water recharge. The ADAPTaRES project unites territories with distinct but shared problems: Madeira, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde.
